Tim Rock is a professional photojournalist who specializes
in the underwater realm. Educated at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Rock worked
as a television news photographer for a decade, shooting for Walter Cronkite
and other CBS and ABC related shows. He has received numerous national
and regional NPPA and UPI Awards for his writing and photojournalism.
Tim first began diving in 1971 in the Gulf of Siam
while on a week's vacation from a fun job in Vietnam.
He moved to Guam in 1981 as chief photographer for Guam Cable TV. Since
then he has worked as chief producer for Aquaquest Micronesia, The Islan
Guam TV Show, Islander Magazine editor for the Pacific Daily News and
has run his own stock photo/video agency, Marine Images since 1976.
Going independent, he was co-owner and writer/producer for the Guam based TV series
Aquaquest Micronesia, an ACE Award finalist. He was also publisher and
managing editor of Pacific Below Magazine from 1995 until 1998 and editor/publisher
of WOW Palau Magazine.
Rock's work is represented worldwide by agents in
New York, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Japan. His stock agents include Sygma,
Tony Stone Images Worldwide, Animals-Animals and Lonely Planet
Images.
He has been published in international magazines like Geo, International
Wildlife, Terre Savage and Islands. His work has taken him on
assignments worldwide from the rolling hills of wild Komodo to the far-flung atoll
of Ontong Java. He is the author of five Lonely Planet diving guides covering
Micronesia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. He has produced eight videos and documentaries.
He has also given a two-man show titled Above and Below with Pulitzer Prize
winner Manny Crisostomo.
