Kiwi’s in Paradise

Posted by: Bill Acker

We have just had the pleasure of welcoming back Tom & Shirley Wills and their granddaughter Rireanna.  This was their 4th trip to Yap and needless to say, they are now truly part of the Manta Ray Bay Resort family.  Tom and Shirley are originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, where Rireanna lives with her parents when not traveling with Grandma and Grandpa on diving trips.  The Wills ran several successful businesses in New Zealand before finally settling in the Cook Islands where they managed and owned the Palm Grove Resort.  During the Wills’ tenure at Palm Grove, the resort regularly ran 90% full for the year and was hugely successful.  Now retired, the Wills enjoy traveling and are avid members of the Golden Oldies Rugby Association.  They also avidly follow Rugby 7’s around the world.

It’s people such as Tom, Shirley and Rireanna that make being in the hospitality industry such a pleasure.  We wish them a safe journey home and look forward to the next time we are together again.  Who knows, maybe in the Cook Islands with our good friend Greg Wilson from Cook Island Divers (www.cookislandsdivers.com) the islands’ best, most complete dive operation and the founder of diving in the Cooks.

Tom & Shirley ready for diving. Notice the fine Kiwi hat on Tom.
